The Islamabad High Court has summoned the Human Rights Minister including the Prime Minister, Interior and Defense Ministers, and Secretaries on November 29 over the non-recovery of more than 50 Baloch students.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of Islamabad High Court has issued a written order for the previous hearing in the case of implementation of the recommendations of the commission on the enforced disappearance of Baloch students.
The written order said that according to the commission report, students of universities and colleges were picked up by law enforcement agencies, 69 Baloch students of various universities were racially profiled, harassed, and forcibly disappeared, and some of the missing students were sent to their homes. However, at least 50 students are still missing.
In the written official letter, the Additional Attorney General admitted that the forcibly disappeared Baloch students are still missing from the state institutions. The Prime Minister and the Interior Minister from Balochistan have not taken any positive action on this issue. The government of Pakistan, which is responsible for protection, is not able to stop the violations of human rights. If any student is involved in anti-state activities, he should be presented in the relevant court.
The court said that it will be understood that Officials not willing to cooperate on this matter, are working against the state interest and are part of the system in which human rights violations continue and they are silent spectators. The enforced disappearance of Baloch students is on the state institutions.
Courts are the last ray of hope for the oppressed, this laid-back behavior of the state officials has shaken the public trust in the high courts.
